  2. About time some one started paying attention to the REAL scene, and not the complete and utter bullshit that the media likes to highlight all the time. Cover bands have ruined our scene and the media has always showcased them as the real harbingers of Pakistan. Also, i read an interesting article regarding artists going independent and the independent labels in a Pakistani newspaper, too bad no one paid any attention to the INDEPENDENT label which is GmH and were too busy talking about how awesome it is that overload went independent. The real scene exists, and we are far more talented than those nutsacks who are whining about not having record deals.

  3. Cover bands > original bands. Since we'll never have Lamb ov Gawd in Pakistan perform live, I'd rather hear a random band cover them than play a shitty original. Besides, most originals by Paki bands end up sounding like a Jal/Atif ripoff. I remember I heard Falling into Infinity by Odyssey I think 2 years ago and it struck me as a metalized Aadat.

  4. dude, if you think Falling Into Infinity is a 'metalized' version of Aadat or anything by Jal/Atif, then you are tone deaf :D Just because a song is melodic, has clean guitar and a catchy chorus doesn't mean it's Aadat part 2. And you quite conveniently ignored the second half of the song which is completely different from the first, has two solos, lots of double bass and multiple changes in time signature. When was the last time Jal/Atif shifted a time signature in their whole ALBUM, much less within the same song? Go form your own band and make something better, man. Unless you're in one of those said Lamb of 'Gawd' cover bands, in which case you probably couldn't make anything half decent without blatantly ripping LoG off, that too in a sloppy way.

And just so I make it clear, I have no problem with criticism of a constructive nature. In fact, I welcome it. But nobody is going to care about what you have to say unless you justify it in some way. Just saying something like 'u suk lolzzz, lambb ov gawdd cover bandz rulzz', just makes you seem like a 10 year old, tone deaf idiot.

  5. "Just because a song is melod, has clean guitar and a catchy chorus doesn't mean it's Aadat part 2."

You're right. It means it's crap.

"And you quite conveniently ignored the second half of the song which is completely different from the first, has two solos, lots of double bass and multiple changes in time signature."

Dude, stick to one genre not one million!

"When was the last time Jal/Atif shifted a time signature in their whole ALBUM, much less within the same song?"

What is this time signature you speak of? Is it a mathematical equation embedded into a song? Because it seems like it. I'm pretty sure time signatures don't exist, it's all a myth. If it existed, I would be able to hear it.

"Go form your own band and make something better, man"

    Better than Jal/Atif?

"You probably couldn't make anything half decent without blatantly ripping LoG off, that too in a sloppy way."

I'm not trying to make anything half decent, I'm just trying to cover LoG. I consider it a service to the nation. Jab tak LoG nahi aatay, mein LoG logon kay liyay bajaonga. Try to be patriotic, man.

"But nobody is going to care about what you have to say unless you justify it in some way."

You seem to care a lot, two big meaty chunky delicious paragraphs neatly sprinkled with spice substitute.

  6. I'm educated. I type fast. Spending a couple of minutes writing a paragraph or two does not constitute as 'caring'.

    FOAD, Hassan Umer. :D

  13. Sadly metal has never been famous for it's intellectual properties and music journalist would much rather talk about the latest album by some obscure band hotly tipped to be the next big thing. There's been a lot of revolutionary changes in the past couple of years though. Metal music was a genre that had never been experimented or worked with before. For the first time, a real change is visible. Well done Odyssey!"Ghosts of yesterday" would surely make a difference! A superb debut album!
